Just a few minutes ago I was wasting some key strokes to sign in here because it’s been the least visited page for a long time.
Mother's day went by and I and my mother remained forgotten that day. My son doesn’t know what it is. He reminds me frequently how he loves me by saying," I love you Mom". This is something I have not done consciously. But, in many ways I let her know how much she means to me. We can connect only through phone now and I try to be as close as possible. I send her sarees and some beauty creams, which she wants me to stop. I used to be a bad critic when it comes to her cooking. But, nowadays whenever I go home I fill my stomach with whatever she makes and completely forget the rules of dieting. For all mothers the love we give back is going to be only a drop in an ocean. I am not into celebrating mother’s day usually.
This week a woman who knew only Arabic appeared in front of our gate and poured contends of a basket in our compound and asked us to take it. She was our neighbor’s maid and what she brought were some tomatoes and some herbs including putheena and malliyila. The unprecedented act left us all awe struck and we even forgot to say Shukran (thanks). The souring and plunging temperatures had taken away the idea of agriculture from me. But this act has triggered the farmer in me. I am starting by throwing the rotten tomatoes in the backyard where it least affects the inmates and it will be safe from our interventions. The rains we are having now, I hope will bring some prosperity.

Aww.. how sweet, really :) You are a good daughter and a fab mother, unnikutta :)
ReplyDeleteLong time!
:)......Actually, I think I can do better in both fields if I try.
ReplyDeleteI guess all of us have the same problem. We've grown up without the need to express our feelings explicitly, yet now the social structure pressures us to.
ReplyDeleteWhat that Arabic woman did was strange. Was that a nice gesture - I did not understand!
I don't feel any pressure though..
ReplyDeleteThe woman was extending a friendship hand, surely a nice gesture.
