Saree is still an eye catcher. Last year I had been to a party thrown by an Arab lady. Varun was invited along with his mother for this party. He got invited because his father worked for one of their companies. It was for ladies and kids only. She expected all to come in fancy dress.
It was fabulous. There was a popcorn maker and candy maker in one corner. There were rides usually seen in parks in their house( may be hired , I have no idea). There was an inflated slide especially hired for the occasion. A chocolate dip brewing machine was kept in one corner. Food items stretched to a length of 10m. Snacks were distributed every half an hour. The center stage saw many functions. Gift packets were distributed to the guests after the party which had a small toy and some snacks.
Indians were dressed in Churithar( a comfy dress when you have a naughty kid to take care all alone) except a lady who was clad in Saree. I despise Saree because it is highly uncomfortable. Some times I feel it’s a waste of cloth and it’s a funny dress. My conviction proved wrong after the party. The lady in saree got at least a glance per person. She also got compliments from different nationals . Sure it was an expensive saree which cost around 5k.
So for any function I have little doubt as what to wear when I don’t have a new dress. The saree was 2005 model bought from Kalyan Silks, Thrissur. Now it’s needless to say who the lady was.
