Vacation Ahead

We are planning a vacation in December. If it was 3 years back, I would have blogged this at least four months back because we do a lot of preparation for that. We wander through malls, ‘souqs’, hyper markets and small shops to buy the finest things for even the most distant relative, who comes to our mind. Anyway I will not fully forget the custom.

Customs people call the flights from here ‘Lekshmi’(Goddess of all richness) flights. But now it has changed a lot. All the things are available at home. Here, cost of living skyrocketed. Day by day, commodities which we want to purchase are increasing and becoming available.

Still there are some things, which seem very attractive here.
1. The only insect causing nuisance is cockroach. When I say this to someone in an affirmative tone I see really troublesome things like a scorpion and snake in our villa. But in flats there is nothing to worry except the cockroaches. With extreme temperatures and less green compounds survival is hard for insects.

2. The sea with no tide. Sometimes it looks like a big swimming pool to me.

3. The fuel price which is less than drinking water.
4. The holy month of Ramadan.
5. The infrastructure of a developed country.

DOHA

I will keep updating this list with bits and pieces. Is there something I can bring for you? Let me know. What I like to take home is colourful memories we had in the not so colourful desert.

  1. I liked the part about fuel price the most. Wow. I cant imagine what it would be like to live where its cheaper than water!

You make a point with the giant swimming pool. Why are there no tides there???

  2. Due to high density of the sea water, there are no waves in the sea. But high tide and low tide occurs, depending on the position of moon.

  3. I did not know that! How interesting.

I hate cockroaches, btw. Too yucky. I guess its better than having scorpion/snake infestation though.

I loved the last pic - the view of developed infrastructure... something we never saw back in CREC... hahaha.

  4. In the beginning I screamed whenever I saw a big cockroach. But now, I don't. They seem harmless.

  5. @The fuel price which is less than drinking water.

Can you somehow bring that luxury to the rest of the world too. Here we cringe every time we have to fill up our car.

    Nice pics btw.

  7. GWBE...,
On the otrher side drinking water is costly, making many other items costly.

Somehow I will try to bring the luxury to the rest of the world.

    Rinch...,
    Everything OK. Relaxed a bit.
The effort to make this blog a progressive one (in number of posts) will be continued in this month too.
